I woke this morning with this dream. I'll put the dream-story into quotes and commentary outside quotes.

I've had an orphan boy living with me. He is hardly more than a toddler, about 4 years old. He has a square shaped face, somewhat Asian or Amerindian in appearance. I've been doing nothing for him. He's been helping himself to whatever food he can find in the house and asking nothing of me. I realize I've been neglecting him and set out to make him a baked bean sandwich. I find the fridge in some disarray and I'm irritable about this. I seem to be living in communal accommodation where different areas of the fridge "belong" to different people. In several corners of the fridge there are half-finished loaves of bread and packets of butter, all only loosely wrapped.

Just yesterday, I defrosted the freezer and this leaves me feeling very organized in the kitchen. I get to do a rough inventory of what's around and what food might have use-by-dates coming up soon.

A couple of actors depart on surfboards, one large one who played Doc Martin. The other more slender one returns over a bracelet, a plain possibly gold circle that he claims belongs to his daughter but someone else has taken it, having just found it among the debris in the water. This seems to be a final scene from a shipwreck fantasy.

The large actor is Martin Clunes and the slender actor might be Australia's John Bell.

There is also a dance academy run by my old dancing teacher. Again, there is disorganization. She asks me to prepare notes as for a concert program. I start into this task and realize that I could be putting out at least some basic listings of what ballets are to be performed. There is a sense of an impossibly difficult task being not so bad after all.

I've been doing some sorting lately, organizing old photos and memorabilia, and I've been writing up a kind of family history out of it.

There is another woman around near the fridge scene, a largish or fat woman (like Dawn French). She also reminds me of M who helped instigate me into becoming pregnant.

M was a girlfriend at the time I fell pregnant with Term. We had fun one evening doing some kind of fertility dance together, with candles lit and scarves draped around us. It was quite magical. Following it, we went out for dinner and a show ... which is where I met Term's father ...

...

I have a sense in this dream of an opening up, of an overcoming of obstacles, and starting fresh. I have a child to take care of and I'm ready to begin taking that on.

It would seem that you get irritable any time in your dream, when you find anything untidy in your (dream) home, like in the other dream you told us with Terminal. Must be second nature to you that you will feel it both dreams.

Don't know either of these guys.

Really? eek

Wow! eek

Did you do this on the night of the full moon?

LOL. I can't recall the astronomical reality of the time but symbolically it was definitely a full moon. grin

I have to admit my real-world home is pretty messy but it was odd that just when I improved the situation by a bit of hard work on the fridge I end up still irritated by untidiness in my dream home! frown

I don't quite understand this part, particularly the emboldened sentence. What's shipwreck fantasy? Does the "debris in the water" just reminds you of shipwreck?

I chose this wording, I think, to distance myself from it. As if to say, "it is not a reality".

We can write up dreams in many different ways. In this case, I was jotting down rough notes and not trying to make it a neat story. If I had, I would probably have written something like:

There has been a shipwreck as when the Titanic went down. A lot of bits and pieces are scattered around in the water and people are trying to cling to larger pieces that they can use as rafts. I recognize a couple of these people, both male actors. One is the guy who played Doc Martin in the TV series of that name. The other is, I think, John Bell (the Shakespearean actor).

And so on.

Some background links:
Doc Martin, the TV series.
Bell Shakespeare, the theatre company founded by John Bell.

I should add that dreams are often not strictly story-like, with a neat beginning and an end. Images just float about together like the debris on that water. It is often the conscious mind in the morning that rearranges the elements so as to make some kind of sense, some kind of "normal" story.

I am on a skateboard, tongue which weaving around people I've come across on the footpath.

It requires no effort on my path to make the skateboard move. All I did, was stand and stay on the board, and it would move or stop either on its own accord eek (Oooo!) or because I willed it to move or stop.

In one of the stops, I see a girl and boy dancing and kissing, possibly at the same age, could be anywhere between 10 and 12 years old. I then continue on my journey.

I've managed to easily avoid crashing everyone, but one person, a man, possibly 55 or older...well, he was forced to jump out of the way. rolleyes (Oops!) He landed on shallow pool or fountain that was only ankle-deep. grin The man complained about wetting his socks. He curses me, took out of his hip pocket - his mobile phone and threw it at me. eek (Ow!)

Eventually, I was running out of footpath, and went down steep stairs. At this point, it began raining heavily. Water rush down the stairs, and it felt like I was surfing on a surf-board (granted, a very small surf-board). eek

tongue (Wheeeee!)

But at the bottom of the stair, the skateboard came to the stop. The ground around me had become mud, and I was stuck. With no place to go, I just sat on the skateboard.

frown

I had another dream, after this, but I barely remember it. There is a lamb being roasted at the campfire. I seemed to be alone, so I had all I can eat. smile However, there is really a big problem. I had no knife to cut some meat off the roast lamb. frown

There's a lot more to this dream, but it is all very fuzzy.

Wow, what an action-packed dream! eek

storyteller writes...

Mud in a dream can represent a situation of feeling depressed which, given the earlier dream of riding a muddy pig, doesn't seem to bother you too much. That might seem paradoxical but depression can get worse because we worry about not being continually happy and excited.

The dream seems to depict you being constantly on the move, constantly motivated, inspired, enthusiastic. No special direction in life but still a lively life.

I don't know who or what that 55+ year old man is but it has caused you to move down to new ground, there to find yourself with no further "wind in your sails" so to speak.

Best to just stay there for now, wait around, and see what turns up.

With the roast lamb segment, I can't help but recall Mr and Mrs Shovel and the rest. Here, you need a sharp slicing tool. Mr Steak Knife? Miss Cleaver? Not quite right, those. Just a good well sharpened carving knife is what you need. Mrs Carving Knife? Is that it? tongue

I certainly was enjoying the ride, smile until it had ended so suddenly. frown

But I don't think God made all mud equal. There is mud, and there is mud.

One is "fun-mud", thus the muddy pig; mud is no barrier for burst of speed. *oink oink* tongue There is the other mud, which is the "no-fun-mud", like in this current dream. D'oh! eek

Both dreams is far more lively than my life at this stage. I have only being on the skateboard once, my friend's board.

If the skateboard was really controlling where I was going, then it would remind me of the time when I went camping, and lost control of the horse I was riding on. I had trouble steering the horse where I wanted to go. The horse ran wherever it wanted, because it knows who is boss, and it was certainly not me.

Then I should get back into my dream and throw that mobile phone back at that rat-bag old man who ended my joyride so prematurely. angry

Since yesterday when I posted on this dream, it has occurred to me that the 55+ year old man might be you as you would imagine yourself at that age, whingeing about what you've done with your life (nothing much), what you've achieved (nothing much), how many kids you fathered (nil), etc. If I'm "getting warm" here, it might be useful to use the mobile phone to communicate with him. Send him text messages and the like. Explain why a carefree life is worth living, etc.

The dream reminded me of Bart Simpson, always speeding along on his skateboard at the opening of every episode. Does that resonate with you, storyteller?

This is a dream I had.

I caught the bus, and sat near the back exit.

When it reached the train station, one of the people who boarded the bus was a woman dressed in a costume that would have been more suited for high society in the late 19th century England or France. The dress was had a lot of laces. She also wore a headdress, with a large feather. Everything she wore was black.

Even, the umbrella was lacy; it was probably only to provide shade from the sun, not keep out the rain.

She had square face, with crooked or hooked nose. Either she was naturally pale or she had applied too much makeup that made her look pale. She was plain, and I wouldn't call her attractive.

I don't know if she was going to costume party, during the daytime, or that she would normally dress like this everyday. If I didn't know any better, I would say she is a Goth, because she was all in black, and pale face, except the style of the dress didn't match what a Goth would wear.

Everyone tried to avoid staring at her, even me, not because she was beautiful or anything; more because she look out of place in the bus.

People on the bus were uncomfortable with her presence. I don't know why, but for some reason people feared her. She sat somewhere behind me, and I didn't turn around to look at her again.

My focus turns toward another passenger. Across the other side of the bus, on another seat, I see a black woman, with a navy blue pram. Inside was her baby, as dark as her. Actually, it was the baby that had my attention. It was possibly a baby girl. It was sitting up, playing with the tea set - small plastic cups, saucers, and teapot.

The baby pour real hot tea into the cup. The baby would pass cup (and saucer) to her mother, who would sip the tea. The baby, also drank her tea, but gulp it all down, unlike her mother, who only sipped.

The baby would refill the cups, and both mother and daughter would drink some more. By this time, I had forgotten the strangely dressed woman.

The bus must have reached my destination, because I got off the bus, finding myself in a deserted marine park. The tanks and pools were void of any sea creature. The water were dirty and greenish in colour.

In one of the large pools, I took of my shoes and socks and wade into the pool, until I was fully submerged. I still walked on the pool floor instead of swimming.

I probably stopped in the middle of the pool, and began to take off my clothes off, until I was completely nude, letting my clothes just float away.

After a moment, I see that I was no longer alone. Another woman, also nude, slowly rode her bicycle pass me. She just keep pedalling until she and her bicycle vanished from my sight. An amazing act, considering she is riding her bike underwater. eek *clap clap clap*

I don't remember anything else.

This forum had become more of dream forum instead of religious one. I am wondering if we had spooked everyone away?

I felt a strong identification with the woman at the start of the dream. She sounded a lot like me in that I write in an old-fashioned, overly complex and elaborate or "lacy" way. I don't think she represents me exactly, but more the process of dream analysis as a whole as it appeared to you at first.

Then you come to the black mother and baby girl serving tea. I think this is where the process moved to one where you were aware that the mother-figure was being served by the newby, or that I was learning from the process as much as you were.

I felt glad when your dream depicted you as reaching your destination but I felt sad when the marine park seemed abandoned.

Then, your move to enter a pool and eventually stand inside it, underwater, naked seemed a good move. Just two things a little disturbing:

1) you're an air breathing earth creature, not a sea creature, so you're somewhat out of place

2) when you refer to "another woman, also nude" it sounds like you're a woman yourself

In the surreal dream world, we are often the opposite of what we are in the day world. However, perhaps you are identifying too strongly with the dream story at the expense of the daytime story.

The woman on the bike seems to me to be a classic "soul mate" image and I think she is showing the way. I'm not sure exactly what it means (you would have a better feel for that) but it seems to me that you can't simply stay put at this point in reaching your destination. You need to move on to something, follow where that woman on the bike went.

I don't think these dream threads are spooking people. All the forums here are quiet. I made an effort to urge Terminal to update the site to the new format but his energies have focussed in too many other places and I've not been able to entice him to give more time to free2code. That image of an abandoned marine park also resonates with this site and these forums.

I'll meditate on that bike riding lady myself and even bring up this issue again with Term.

Thanks for sharing yet another very vivid dream. smile

I don't recall ever having a dream where I am "in" the water, in term of swimming. And this is certainly the first time I had a dream where I'm literally "under" the water. Usually, I'm on the water, like on a vessel, such as a boat or ship; and I don't have that much dream been on a boat.

Arizona writes...

*shakes head, no* smile

Actually, I referring to seeing 3 women (plus the baby-girl?), who are prominent in this dream. There were other people on the bus, including men and boys, but only the woman with strange dress, and the dark-skinned woman and baby took most of my attention.

That's what I meant, when I said seeing another woman.

Arizona writes...

Compared the two women in the bus and though the bike-riding woman rode passed me slowly, the image of nude woman was fleetingly short, that I don't have much detail on what she looks like, because greenish water made the image blurring.

All I can remember is that she had long hair that float about around head, and that she wasn't overweight. I couldn't see her facial features, I don't recall if she had large or small breasts....not that breast-size really mattered.... *clear throat* *embarrassed* grin

Too bad she didn't ride around me. I might be able to tell you more if she did.

And thank you. smile It is always nice to get feedback from you.

Sometimes, I wondered if I should have started a website on dreams, instead of mythology.

Ah, I see now what you meant about "another woman". So the one on the bike was the fourth female you noticed in the dream. She definitely seems to be a mystery woman, a kind of sea nymph. And yet the fact of her riding an ordinary bicycle brings her back to everyday reality. It's an image that seems to hold romantic and practical reality together.

I think if we had a good artist that was inspired to do some digital artwork based on the dream images, it could make for an interesting website. However, it all seems like a quirky little corner of the universe here. It's hard to imagine why anyone much else would be interested, lol.

I do recall something similar and yet slightly different. In the Irish sea-god, Mananan MacLir, driving his chariot on the surface of the sea, but not underwater; the chariot was pulled by horses.

This dream I had a couple of nights ago.

There is a bridge, where I seemed to be commanding several squadrons of troops, to defend the bridge, preventing any enemies from crossing over to our side. I sent two small detachments of archers, each about 6 men. These archers were almost completely naked.

I kept a slightly larger detachment of men carrying pikes on reserved. They were dressed in ordinary clothes, no uniforms.

The archers managed to drive a couple of attacks away. I didn't see anyone being killed.

Then a woman came from behind, to speak to me. All I remember that she had dark long hair. She was telling me why I haven't been visiting her. She was upset with me, playing war-game while I have neglected her at home. frown

It'd seem apparent that she is my wife. I've never had dream where I was married. And apparently I don't make good husband. rolleyes

My dream ended prematurely frown because there seemed to be a damn bird angry outside of my window, singing.

I get the feeling that this new dream have been influenced by the movie, "300", although, I have not seen, and don't have any inclination to see it. I know it is based on historical event during the Persian War, when 300 Spartans along with some other troops managed to stop the massive Persian army from advancing for few days, before they were slaughtered at Thermopylae.

She is definitely worth spending some time with. Just imagine talking to her and asking her what she would rather you were doing, apart from the war games, that is.

This is a very interesting development.

Here is another dream. I thought I would tell this dream now before I forget.

I was probably out, but when I returned to my room, I found all my storage boxes opened, lids taken off that stores my diskettes and CD/DVD case uncovered. eek Someone must have opened everything. So I went to closed them.

As I closed them I noticed behind my PC, I have 2 sets of chess-set. One of them, with the pieces still on the board. These are the type of pieces with magnetic bottoms so that the pieces would stick to the chessboard. In my dreams I was puzzled who was playing with them.

Then the dream took me into the car, a completely new scene. I was in the middle of driving, and then I stopped at the traffic-lights.

I had 2 chess-sets with me in the car, when I noticed these chess-sets were not mine. I got a mobile phone, the new one with video capability and called one of my friends. This friend, I had not seen since college days.

(A little background. He was older Australian man, bearded, and kind of dark greyish hair; he actually looked more like a teacher than a student.)

Back to my dream, I called him up, and told him that I had chess-sets that don't belong to me. I explained that I do have one, but my (real) board were smaller, and the pieces were tiny.

For some reason, I got out of the car, still talking to my friend, while I am at the lights. I stood in front of the car. eek I am still mystified by the 2 chess-sets that don't belong to me.

It was while I was standing outside that I noticed my car. It was one of those sportscars, short in height, thus the driver would be almost lying down. It looked sort of like the James Bond's car in the Spy Who Love Me built for speed, except this car had a yucky tongue orangish-brown colour, like caramel. What on earth possesses me angry to own car with such horrible colour?

Then I noticed that the lights had turned "green". I quickly run back to driver's side door. I only touched the door, when the damn car started moving forward on its own. I don't recall if I put the hand-brake on before I got out of the car. I swore, "Oh SH#@!!!" eek (this is probably the 1st time I swore in my dreams), I toss my mobile aside, over my shoulder, and started running side-by-side with the car, trying to open the door and get back in. My car was travelling at the same speed as the other cars.

My car was in the middle lane, and there were other cars in the left and right lanes that want cut into my lane, in front of my car. And on several occasions, it would look like my car would crash into their rear-ends.

I had managed to open the door. But jumping into a moving car is whole different matter. eek Even in my dream, doing such thing is dangerous and not as easy you would think. After some hard running, I managed to jump back inside the car.

There are still cars that want to cut into my lanes, and I nearly crash the car, even with me back on the wheel. My car seemed to survive the ordeal without a scratch.

My dream changes scene again, and I am now in my bed, and it was still dark, but I felt someone touching my leg; sort of like a couple of taps. That "imaginary" touch actually woke me from my dream at 6:19 in the morning. And yes it was still dark outside. *groan* eek

Dreams are stories, but my life is just one bad dream. :P

This dream has quite a few connections to earlier dreams.

1) The chess pieces recall that bishop piece you threw at a wall and shattered. I think the chess set in the dream is a kind of symbolic or dream-set. It is different, of course, from the one in "real life". You're worried because you don't see these sets as "yours" but I'd say that they do belong to "you" in the larger sense of "Your Self".

2) The colour orange or yellow-brown recurs quite a bit. The colour of caramel is, in fact, similar to the colour of our skin, even mine when the sun's been on it a little. (Of course, it's too light for really dark-skinned people but I know that neither you nor I are dark-skinned.)

3) The little sports car is behaving a lot like that horse you told us about, the one that rode you, so to speak, rather than the other way round. Our drives (our passions and inclinations) can run away with us like that. In this case the drive has an adventure hero feel about it so you must have been inspired of late by a strong sense of adventure.

4) In many dreams, someone else is doing the driving. Whenever you yourself take over the wheel and take control it means "you" as the everyday ego or smaller self are running things more. A healthy inner life is one where the ego and the non-ego manage things together, just as a husband and wife might manage a household together, with neither one nor the other dominating. (I think there might be a connection here to the new theme of a wife complaining about your war adventures.)

5) I'm glad you managed eventually to get control of the car as loss of control had clearly become dangerous. You seemed, in earlier dreams, to make a good team with a wild or a domestic animal that you were riding. Now it's a fast sports car, so lots of man-made energy there. You're not as comfortable with this, I can see, but you got there in the end.

6) A car or a house can also represent the body, as contrasted with the soul. Given the colour of the car, this might be worth considering as an aspect of the car's symbolic meaning.

7) At the end, you are "touched" by your dream. That is such a nice simple idea, I really like it.

8) The friend you talked to on your mobile would represent your non-ego, your "shadow" as the Jungians call it. When people first start to look at their dreams, the shadow is often negative, seen as an enemy or opponent. With time, it develops into a friend, even a guide or teacher. So this is a good development here.

Things seem to be coming along nicely. smile

No, I didn't mean that. It felt like someone touch my leg to gently wake me, but when I actually do wake up, there's no one in my room. It felt real.

I usually wake someone up with the touch like that, instead of shaking them.

3) The little sports car is behaving a lot like that horse you told us about, the one that rode you, so to speak, rather than the other way round. Our drives (our passions and inclinations) can run away with us like that.

A lot of my dreams have been like that, hasn't it? Whether I driving or riding, I don't seem to have as much control.

Once again, thank you Arizona. smile

Exactly, storyteller, I did understand that. That's why I spoke of "touch". It was a dream touching but it was also real.

And there was indeed someone in your room: you. tongue

Your dreams remain a delight, almost a textbook example of developing consciousness or spiritual awakening.

It's good stuff.
