I need to make an os called Kuyaserve. (Don't laugh my name's Kuyler) I'm 11 years old, but i know some c, java, javascript (actuallly a lot of that), and I'm a master in some people's eyes (you didn't hear that from me!!!) in HTML. (And I know its really really easy though. Well on to the point. I need a coool program (preferably not command line) that can help me make it. After that I need to
partion my harddrive, and install it with winxp.

Well Kuyman,

Don't want to ruin your day, but you need to know a bit more than html to build your own OS from scratch... C/C++ is a good start, but you should really learn Assembly if you want to create something that low-level. I could never create such a thing and wish you good luck trying, but I suggest you start with something easier, it's really hard, ask roddefig ...

Hmm, yes, and you need to understand a lot about computer architecture, the very low level stuff. There are lots of things an OS has to perform, and you have to know a lot about the architecture of a computer to do it, knowing a programming language isn't enough, you have to be hardware savvy too.

PS. Sorry about bursting your bubble, here's a smiley to cheer you up

there are hell lot of things which you must know before you start writing an operating system. its is better to go through with some operating system,
, computer architecture theory. then you must be a good programmer of
assembly, c and c++. after that you can start writtin' an os.

first you have to write a bootloader then a simple kernel and then, what ever
you want to be include in your operating system.

Can you please tell me the differences between a bootloader and a bootsector code. Are theses one and same things? I am quite confused here. Please help me out. Thanks

What I would do is get the smallest linux distro you can find. The absolute small of smallest. Install it, and add to it. As well as taking out some of the pants programs that get added to small O.S. 's Theres a lot of people that have tried to fit as much onto a bootable floppy as possible. This would be a good place to start.

So begin, tinker about with it and improve it without the makers space limitations.

Good luck.
