Opps, sorry the sequence is JFMAM not JJMAM, and yes Arizona you are right, it is J after that, but can you tell why?

sure I can tell! I told the question, by the way, after
JFMAM is not F, it is J, and any way here is why: It is actually the first letter of months: January, Feburary, March, April, May, June, July and ....
So... How is life?

but ... how come F comes next after JJMAM (as you originally posted)?
because JJMAM is the months going backward ... so February is next. |

When you first posed the problem you announced the sequence as "JJMAM". You have edited it since then but that was the problem as originally posed.
Now, start with J for July and work backwards. It should then be obvious that F is the right answer to the problem as originally posed. (I can't believe how many times I've had to post to this forum, on such an inane and trivial matter. Am I going bonkers?) |

it could start repeating itself at that point. the digit sequence is 3, 5, 4, 3, 5, 4, etc. then we also alternate between doubled digit and single digit xx, x, xx, x, xx, x, etc. we've cycled the digit sequence twice and the double/single sequence 3 times--they're each ready to start over this is of course completely a guess
my mind is like a steel trap! it only hangs on to the big stuff. visit my forums at track7.org
