Mac 'Mail' - Saving Changes To Disk Query

Hi!

I run an Apple Mac G4 on OS 10.2.8.

I use the built in e-mail programme called 'Mail'. However, I do have a lot of back e-mails stored, because I need to have them.

The problem is that MAIL keeps 'changing changes to disk', every time i do anything. This process locks up my computer until the process is complete, so that what should take me a couple of minutes every day, can take up to 30 minutes or more.

I've looked on 'preferences' but there seems no way of making MAIL do this 'saving changes to disk' less often...say, once per session.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Earl Okin.
