Using Bison and Flex

I have been trying to figure out how to make my own programming language and came accross the idea of using 2 programs, Bison and Flex, to do so. I went to their website and downloaded bison.exe, flex.exe, and the bison dependency files. I ran the bison-2.1 installation file (since I'm running Windows), and came to a dead end as it seems that only a bunch of PDF files were placed in my "Programs" directory in the start menu.
The same occured when I attempted to install Flex. Is this the sort of program I would use through a MS-DOS command prompt, or is there an IDE/executable program somewhere which I am missing? I skimmed over the tutorial on this site, Free2Code, and found it interresting, but it did not mention HOW to run the programs, but only what to put INTO the programs. This might seem noobish, but I am a noob, so could someone please help me or direct me to a nice tutorial (with examples of how to install/run the programs)? Thanks! |
