more information:
i haven't applied any styles whatsoever, just the basic html markup with classes and ids ready for css application. this means the forms are poorly laid out as everything just runs inline with no line breaks. the field caption is always before the field, and you should be able to figure it out. i'm mainly concerned with getting it to *work*, and it can then be made to work with free2code styles. i only have a basic xhtml blurb of code for people to use with the webring links, and right now you only see it right after signing up. i will make the code display in a few other places, but i'm not much of a graphics guy so it's just plain text from me. definitely let me know if anything appears to be not working! more links: sign-up - enter your info and get into the database. right now i'm manually approving sites using phpmyadmin, since i didn't make the approve page yet. site list - view list of sites currently active within the ring. previous site - go to the site before free2code random site - go to a random site in the ring next site - go to the site after free2code (jester and term if you want me to change the markup let me know and i can do that.)

Nice work! It looks like it is working good.
I've added my site. Currently only a under construction page, but that'll be different soon. Added the code at the bottom for testing etc. *When I click next I go to free2code, and when I click back I get there too. If there are 2 sites in the ring I should get to track7 on either next or back right?

i went to your site and opened the prev and next links 3 times each. i got 2 free2codes and 1 track7 from each link.
since your site wasn't approved and in the rotation yet, next and previous are meaningless, so it will always do random. i'll approve you now, and if you try it again you should get free2code on prev all the time and track7 on next (next would of course change if another site gets into the rotation). so what you saw was actually the expected behavior, though i don't think i had mentioned that. maybe it would make more sense to have next always go to site 1 and prev always go to the last approved site if the referer isn't found in the database as active?

ahh.. right, yes it works now how you said.
For those sites which are not active yet, the next and prev button could just be random. Now it's a short list and you get the same site often, but with more sites in the webring the chances are less that would happen. And when next always goes to site one and prev always to the last, I think that would be unbalanced. Site one and the last applied site would get more hits than others like this, random would be more fair I think. You could just make a notice to people who applied and tell them the links are all random until their site is approved.
