Did you know that the physics of a flag in the wind are still largly unknown!! It's pretty crazy to think of all the things science has accomplished it still can't show how simple things like this work in our world!

That's true. When an air stream becomes turbulent, the particle motion becomes random and therefore particle velocities can no longer be predicted. There is no way to predict the motion of a flag waving around in turbulent air because it's motiont is completely random and unpredictable. Engineers strive hard to keep airflow laminar to prevent this.
