I heard that in order to draw all Windows users from 3.1, 95 a,b,c, 98 Fe ,Se ME, this new windows Vista will finally be a complete cross-platform O/S, allowing any software from the previous versions to run in Vista. Has anyone heard anything about this?
Some people get the Elevator while others get the shaft.

I wouldn't consider that "cross-platform" as all of those use win32 (except 3.1) and so does NT4 and up (this includes XP and server 2003).
Anyway, MS always says that each new version of windows will run any program from any past version of windows, so I don't see this as anything new.
