With a Win98 repairdisk you can create a 2 MB ramdrive. If you modify the autoexec.bat, you can make it up to 20 MB. But how can I create a ramdrive with the size, of example 500 MB?

well how much ram do you have? you'd probably need at least 1 GB of ram if you were going to make a 500-meg ramdrive
my mind is like a steel trap! it only hangs on to the big stuff. visit my forums at track7.org

i would look at the documentation on the ramdisk command--see if you can find anything there. i don't have windows 98 on any of my computers right now so i can't check for you

>> ramdisk command
I use the himem.sys >> see if you can find anything there Microsoft gives you no documentation about this... >> i don't have windows 98 on any of my computers right now so i can't check for you You only need a standart image of a repair or startup disk for windows 98. There is no difference between computeres or installations. You can download it as an 1.44 MB file everywhere... With the himem.sys command you are only able to create a ramdrive between 512 k and 20 MB. So what I want to know is, if there is a programm, which is able to create a ramdrive of about 500 MB. With linux you can make such a thing easily, but I don't know how to make it under windows. |
