OK. I just heard something on the TV and it was so funny that I just had to share it.

Around here there's a TV show called Levyraati where four random celebreties gather around to discuss about a few random music videos.
The actual thing:
While reviewing the latest music video of Nightwish, one of the guests said that when he had first heard Ecanescence, he had tought 'Who Finnish band is making a cheap copy of Nightwish?'

For some reason I laughed my lungs out on this one.

Well, to kick on some conversation, lets throw about a couple or relating questions:
What do you think of this all?
Which band do you like more and why? (Asuming that you know the both.)

havent heard of nightwish..but do have evanescence's first album.
if they are considered similar, then i guess i wont be missing much there.

i really like them, but then i like women with strong voices.
and the lead singer to evanescence has a good strong voice.
helps that she can sing too ..heh

Well, I don't know are those that alike.
The thing I probably like best in Nightwish is the combination of heavy music and trained opera singer as a vocalist.
It's true, I heard that she has gone through a decent opera singers course.

Personally, I think Nightwish is far better than Evanescence. Not only are all the musicians in Nightwish better individually than the corresponding musicians in Evanescence, but Nightwish has a better overall sound as well. Don't get me wrong, I think Evanescence is a good band. They just don't compare to Nightwish.

I think the biggest difference is in the vocalists. Amy Lee has a cool voice for the music Evanescence plays, but she'd stink singing along with such Nightwish tunes as Stargazers, Gathsemene, etc. If you want to really hear the difference in the vocalists, compare some of the 'slower' songs from each band. (Evanescence's Bring Me To Life, versus Nightwish's Swanheart or Sleeping Sun, just to name a couple.) When the heavy background music fades, putting the focus on the vocals, it's easy to see the quality difference.

In short, if you enjoy Evanescence, you'll probably be blown away by Nightwish! That's what happened to me. I'd recommend their CD Oceanborn. If you're already a Nightwish fan and you haven't heard Evanescence before, you might have a reaction similar to the 'cheap copy' comment.

I have the debut Evanescence CD and while I think the music is excellent, one ding in the album's proverbial armour is that there isn't enough variation in each song. Essentially, the entire album is like one extended song. So while there isn't really a song on the album I don't like, each song is too similar...this is a problem many bands have, though a few stars have managed to create CDs with such variance that with each listen it sounds like a new CD.

Oh Come on...Nightwish?I mean they are so fake!They look like gothic and death like but they are overdoing it!
Amy and Evanescence are way better!Their songs make you sheever and she her angelic voice with the punk-rock music takes your breath away!Evanescence ROCK!

Oh My God. Are you freakin serious? Amy lee is a punk-goth poser wannabe. though she may be able to sing, she sounds terrible live. evanesence cant even be classified into the punk-rock/metal category. you obviously dont know what punk-rock is. And as for NightWish, They are simply amazing! tarja has a much better voice and the band is much heavier than evanescence/ nightwish sounds perfect live and i guarantee they have more talent than freakin evanescence..

its all a matter of personal opinion.
we dont all have to agree with each other as to what sounds better etc etc etc.
as long as you enjoy it, thats all that matters.

Oh yeah, Nightwish is million times better. Tarja is professional operatic singer, Amy Lee just on teen. Nightwish make better music in many ways, like lyrics. Much better.

OK I was turned to nightwish not too long ago from a friend. I love them. Evanescence and Nightwish are similar but not really. Nightwish is much Harder music and Opera like lyrics. Evanescence is more of a lighter music with lighter lyrics. They both calm me down at the end of the day. But I like nightwish when I'm pissed off to cuz The harder music really gets me. So I'm going to say that nightwish takes the cake

wouldnt it be really cool if the lead singer in both those groups got together and did a song? i know that nightwish have broken up so maybe she would join evanescence?
