Has anyone heard of the program Game Maker. Its a game making software. Really good. Not so great at 3D, but excellent at 2D. You can create stand-alones(exe). Avaliable only for Windows(hey, I didn't start the PC vs. Mac wars). Download it at http://www.cs.uu.nl/people/markov/gmaker/index.html.

I agree, this program may not be designed for making Quake and Unreal, but it is possible to make some pretty fun games. It gives you something to do. And it's FREE!! How can you beat free fun stuff?
