Adobe doesnt have a distro for Linux (most companies dont acknoledge its existance), So the only way to get photoshop running on linux would be a vmachine or if you could get wine (think thats the name) working. Wine would allow you to install windows programs because it fools them into thinking its windoze.

Yea, thats one of the sole reasons I dont use linux on my main desktop. Wine lowers performances and none of the linux dezign apps cut it in comparison. Somthing that definatly needs work !

So thus ends this topic probably. In conclusion your better off with a mac for design. 8-) This coming from a graphic designer...

*Edit* Added hyperlinks.

Well if you need something more, like photoshop this seems like it more style, this looks ok...

A gimp fork

http://cinepaint.sourceforge.net/

And more (most may suck or not have anything done at all)

Haven't tried them yet though.

If you can't find anything good, and you still want to use Linux. It could be plug-ins that you want.

It could be B.S., but somewere on the news photoshop was thinking about.

The question about macs being used for design. I think it doesn't matter. I used Windows (for web and art) and did pretty fine. Never used a MacOSX yet. Now I usally use Linux for art, but not for web latly. Though the problem with different OS's for design for anything is the dam colors. If you can help it, use web safe color

My problem isn't finding something with photoshop, it's finding something like Dream Weaver
