I am interested to learn C++ programming, can anyone recommend me what software I should use? I am prefer freeware/shareware, as I don't want to spend money before I know at least basic of programming

The best freeware compiler for beginners is:

Dev-C++ 4.01

Don't get version 5 as it still doesn't work that well.
You first need to install version 4 and then the 4.01 patch, both are available to download off the above site.
