I want to start on 3D Graphics but I'm not sure what programs I can get on a very limited budget. I also need some help on where to start. I can create very simplew 2 graphics in Adobe Photoshop.

Is this a dream?

Animation Master is only $299 It's at Hash.com. Blender is a fantastic 3-D animator that lets you do just about anything and it's FREE! and small enough to fit on two floppy disks. Downside is , it is hard to learn.

KojiYami: check out http://www.Blender3d.org and http://www.wings3d.com two great opensource free 3d modellers and renderers.... They're both great and easy to learn (blenders a good all round tool and wings3d is a great modeller).
And at a budget of $0 they're great.

I tried blender and I really like it. I'm real newbie when it comes to 3d but it was easy to get started. blender.org has great tutorials and examples too. And it's a small download (relatively speaking, for a complex software like that)
I recommend it. Seems to be able to export files to DirectX file type (X) so I plan to use it for some coding projects too.

Crypdoctor.... coooollll!!!! by the way blender is now in 2.33 with A_GAME_ENGINE ... this is a big deal to anyone whose been in the blender community for a while because we've been waiting for the game engine in an official blender release since like 2.26 (wwwaaaaayyyy to many months)

Blender really is a great download.. you get heaps for the 2.xMB download. Infact the 32MB zipped Manual is way bigger than the actual application.

Plus its got a great community behind it.

Yes, I have 2.33. I'm learning basics so I haven't used game engine yet, but I can make OK looking mountains, use textures and that sort of stuff now
I'm really just playing with it now but maybe soon I can use 3d models in DirectX code...

oh height maps right!?!? like seeting a texture on a plane that has lots of vertexes and then letting the texture determing the height of each vertex... right?
I'd like to see posts of your work.. are they on your site?

Oh that can be done too? :-o I just had a plane with lots of vertexes and pulled some of them up, played around with fractal divisions, noise and stuff and finally mapped a texture on the whole thing... I'm really a newbie in 3d modelling, but eventually I intend to use some on my site (probably not 3d, just some nice shots...)

It's been a while but I found some time to play with blender again and experienced some difficulties:
I exported simple file to directX x-format and tried to parse it. It was little bit more difficult than I expected, nothing seemed to happen and finally debugger revealed that there were parse errors in the x-file. The problems were of this type:

parse error near "none" at line XX, and when I looked that line I saw this kind of things

none ;}

the problem here is the blank between none and ;
These appeared in few places and fixing them manually removed the problem. I'm little worried though what might happen with a large 3d model. It might easily contain hundreds of "typos" like this if they appear this frequently.
Does anyone use Blended with DirectX 9? Any similar experiences? Is this a small bug, solvable problem or am I going to be in serious trouble if I continue with this?
These all seemed to happen in

TextureFilename {
none;}
}

Which appeared in few places. Is this a bug related to TextureFilename?
