I'm no Anthropologist--just a student from an Anthropology course. But if anyone wants to ask me questions they can feel free to do so.
From what I've learned so far, Shintoism is often found combined with Buddhism (primarily in Japan). Biddhist-Shintoism is an interesting combination because in Buddhism there is a doctrine of no soul. However, in Shintoism belief in the soul is tied to everyday rituals. You could see Japanese who claim to be Buddhist, but without realizing it follow or practice some Shinto rituals or beliefs that contradict traditional Buddhist beliefs. Hinduism, Buddhism, and Shintoism all share some close similarities. |

you are really good at resurrecting old threads attila :P
suttee or sati was and is still banned in india. It just takes years for the people themselves to start following that. You cant stop believing in something thats been the same for years, overnight. anyway..to continue this discussion..please make a thread in religious or politics world events threads. thanks
