The following's quoted from New Scientist 2April05.
--- Page 7 Third column. "Not So Smug Now." Microsoft had reason to smile last week because an independant (heh) security report slammed Microsoft's competitors as being vulnerable to security breaches. Symantec released it's biannual 'Internet Security Threat Report' on 21March. It says that between July and December last year, 21 new vulnerabilities emerged in the open-source Firefox browser, while the M$ Internet Exploiter threw up only 13. Symantec also found that Apple's Mac OS X had 37 vulnerabilities. The company's report states that, "It is now clear that the Mac OS is increasingly becoming the target for malicious activity." *** HOWEVER *** LAST WEEK Microsux reported 5 new Critical Vulnerabilities (their highest threat level) and numerous others. (thanks to LT Fox Fire for the link which provided that info.) It seems that they waited until AFTER Symantec's report before they told everyone how bad things were, with their systems. _B_
Beware the Big Koala. It originated the recursive malapropism when it found itself supernumerary to a specific task and commented, "I think I'm erroneous here". -which it wasn't until it said so, but then it was, -so it wasn't. It also once won a staring contest, with a stuffed cat.

hows this for predictable Microsoft:
Because of a vulnerability in MSN messenger involbing a url containing dowload.php, microsoft has "fixed" the problem by blocking all outgoing messeges in msn messenger containing the words download.php. you will see the messege, but no one else will, and you will get no warning that your message was filtered.
