I'm not really doing any certain one. I'm basicly learning the jist of whatever I feel like doing until I find a language that I fell I would want to sit down and stick with.

Linux is always a good easy platform.
Heck you can do almost anything on windows also.

My recommendation is buy a big hard drive and dual-boot or do something along that order.

I'd take suggestions from most of the other guys though...

Or run Linux and use Wine, which runs nearly every app, game, etc from windows

run linux, because that means if you need any specific software to aid you in programming you wont have to pay shit loads for it, you'll just download it because linux is freeware! beatiful eh? Or you partition your system and run XP on one section and RedHat linux on the other, best of both worlds, just make sure that you have sufficient RAM for it eh? :|

Linux is a good choice 'cos all kinds of programming can be done very easily since we've compilers free and easily available... so perl, php,c,c++ everything go into same editor sometimes....

Get lots of RAM, Windows is what I have, and it works just fine, and Linux, I guess, taking a leaf out of everyone elses book, works great too. We have a slow computer though, so I cant do a whole lot, not to mention that my stupid comp doesnt really let me do image links, or even PUT an image up... I did the same code at my friends house on hometown AOL, and it worked just fine...
