Is there a particular reason why you want to become a moderator? Which forum do you want to moderate?

I would say that a person would have to be a frequent visitor to the forums... persistently provide adequate advise or assistance to the person(s) in question or need in a given area, and through time proove they are capable and dependable of such moderation by the outlined above, in my opinion.

And this being under the assumption that a moderator would be needed in a forum.

who does one ask on becoming a moderator? Who has the right to give that access? What would the moderator do besides deleting spam?

I'm sure the higher echelons of f2c will see this thread. And if they wish for anymore mods they will ask.

...like Marvin Gaye, only blacker.

Apart from deleting spams and double-posts, a moderator give people as much free rein as possible as long as that they broke the rules that F2C set out, when you had joined.

The only editing of posts I do is my own. I pretty much leave other's posts alone.

There's really not much work being a moderator, viper.

i end up deleting a LOT of spam. sometimes if i'm the first one on a fresh post in the career forum i delete contact information from ac posts there which are breaking the rules by posting contact information...

some moderators also turn urls into links for people who just post something like "look at my website http://www.example.com/"

most of the work is just deleting posts that are nothing but smilies, and of course the double posts. sometimes moving topics too

i think jester and terminal are the only ones who can make somebody a moderator, but like others have said, i don't think they're looking for more moderators at this point.

my mind is like a steel trap! it only hangs on to the big stuff. visit my forums at track7.org

And most importantly, if you ask to be a moderator you probably won't get it. But really, being a moderator isn't that big a deal.

I know I don't post as much as I used to, and part of that is the amount of posting other people do. It's no fun to say something and have no one reply. But be assured that the moderators at least come look to make sure their sections are in order.

Once upon a time, I was just like you. So I begged and begged and even cried a little until I got my wish. DON'T DO THIS!

Viper, being a mod isn't all that! There are no year-end bonuses or anything even remotely resembling VIP treatment. Since F2C isn't really very strict, you rarely have the chance to throw your weight around. There are rarely excuses to be trigger happy!
